About the Role

Rainbow-Themes is seeking an experienced Senior Shopify Developer to lead and streamline the development lifecycle of Shopify stores from development to production. The role involves collaborating with design and product teams to build scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions. Responsibilities include developing and customizing Shopify themes, integrating apps and APIs, optimizing store performance and ensuring secure, reliable and user-friendly storefronts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, customize and maintain Shopify themes and storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Build, maintain and optimize Shopify stores to ensure high performance, responsiveness and scalability.
• Develop custom Shopify apps based on business requirements.
• Implement features according to project requirements, documentation and technical instructions.
• Work with Shopify APIs (Admin, Storefront and other relevant APIs).
• Integrate third-party apps, services, APIs and payment gateways.
• Optimize Shopify stores for performance, SEO and mobile responsiveness.
• Debug, troubleshoot and resolve bugs, layout issues and performance problems.
• Collaborate with designers to convert Figma/PSD designs into Shopify themes.
• Maintain Shopify apps and theme updates.
• Write clean, efficient, well-structured and well-documented code while following best practices for security, scalability and performance.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Proven experience in developing custom Shopify apps and themes.
• Strong expertise in Shopify Liquid templating language.
• Experience with Node.js and React for Shopify app development.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and JSON.
• Solid understanding of Shopify Admin and Storefront APIs, webhooks and app integrations.
• Experience integrating third-party tools, services and payment gateways.
• Knowledge of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, performance optimization, SEO best practices and accessibility.
• Understanding of UI/UX principles and eCommerce best practices.
• Familiarity with Git version control and versioning workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and debug issues efficiently.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have.

• Experience with Shopify Plus.
• Themes or apps approved and published in the Shopify Marketplace.
• Familiarity with React / Next.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience using Shopify CLI and app deployment workflows.
• Knowledge of headless commerce using Shopify Storefront API.
• Understanding of analytics, tracking tools and conversion optimization.
